The face commonly provides the first visual clues and impression people have regarding the sex of an individual. While other body parts can be hidden or exaggerated to appear more feminine, for the most part it’s difficult to create feminine face features without facial feminization surgery.
Facial feminization surgery involves facial plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery and reconstructive surgery. FFS involves bony and soft tissue surgery of the face, neck, and thyroid cartilage. Some doctors include facial hair removal and hair transplants as part of facial feminization surgery.

Specific feminization procedures:
Scalp advancement (bring down the hairline) to achieve the feminine hairline. Dr. Somsak recommends hair transplant, because, scalp advancement leaves a scar across the forehead which may take months to disappear.
Forehead contouring to reduce the brow’s bossing and for some cases an reconstruction of the forehead is possible. Many FFS surgeons give a very trademark FFS look, a flat forehead – a forehead implant may also be recommended to some candidates.
Cheekbones contouring may be required for many patients, after ‘resetting’ the forehead and the jaw. Your cheekbones may be too prominent or not prominent enough. Dr. Somsak will recommend Zygoma reduction or cheek implants to some candidates.
Jaws contouring can reduce the square shape of mandibular angle (the jaws) from the back of the jaw forward to the chin.
Chin contouring may also be recommended to some patients, Dr. Somsak can modify the chin to improve and feminize the facial appearance.
Lip lift have also been requested by some patients to shorten the distance between the upper lip and the nose. Dr. Somsak may also recommend lips augmentation for some patients.
